Sustainable Tourism, Entrepreneurship and Local Economic Development
Entrepreneurship is considered to be the central force of economic development, because it creatsgrowth and serves as a means for innovation and change. Tourism is one of the sectors of theeconomy in which the much-needed innovations by entrepreneurs and the diversification of touristproducts and services are needed in order to meet the new demands by tourists. The result of thisis supposed to be sustainable tourism. Tourism is one of the most powerful industries.
The yearly income from tourism in the world is reaching 11% BNP, and tourism provides work for 200 million people. This year’s conference is part of the project whose aim is an increase in competitiveness of touristproducts and destinations in Vojvodina. The project is divided into three parts. The first part consists of education and training for people working in tourism industry and for the unemployed registered with the National employment service; within the second part of the project a study tripto Croatia and Slovenia will be organized for the best trainees and the third part is the regionalconference, whose goal is establishing a model of sustainable management.
The goal of this year’s Regional conference on sustainable tourism, entrepreneurship and localeconomic development is establishing a model of sustainability of the defined tourist products through thematic fields of international cooperation and support of the private sector to thedevelopment of the entrepreneurship of local communities along the lines of socially responsibleconduct of business affairs.
