Dr. Giorgio ANDRIAN, Ph. D

Dr. Giorgio ANDRIAN likes to define himself as a ‘restless curious’. Italian by birth, he soon broadened his personal and professional experiences in various countries, ranging from USA to Costa Rica, from Ghana to Australia. More recently, he moved back to Europe, being engaged in professional activities mostly in Eastern countries. During his doctoral studies in political geography, he refined the epistemology of the local development, by using a systemic approach to better understand the relational aspects of the various stakeholders. Tourism becomes soon one of his relevant fields of activity, especially in relation with the internationally designated site, since he joined UNESCO in 2004.

He kept lecturing - both at graduate and undergraduate levels - in various European universities, on political and cultural geography, international relations and nature and cultural heritage policies.

Ultimately, he’s very convinced of the importance of the ‘cross-fertilisation’ between the academic and non-academic sectors, in order create many more win-win opportunities for both the professional and the capacity building sides.
